Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Road Transfer from Dar es Salaam to Nyerere and Afternoon boat safaris

On this day you will meet and greet by our driver guide who will transfer you to Selous game Reserve. Travel to tarmac and rough road with incredible scenery en route Activity: Evening boat Safari along Rufiji river up to sunset. Enjoy beautiful water birding in Africa as well as getting up close and personal to hippos and crocs which swarm through the river system, be they wallowing in the water or basking on the banks. Boat safari leave you with remarkable experience of fresh water ecosystem; crocodile, fish, birdlife and vegetation. Meals: provided by guide on picnic area Overnight at Rufiji River Camp.

Day 2

Full Day Game Drive and Walking Safaris

Today at 06:30am, our driver guide will pick you from your hotel and drive you to starting point of walking safari. Activity: Walking safaris are a fantastic way to get close to nature and learn more about the smaller species and the bush itself. Walks are slow-paced, accompanied by both an armed ranger and our expert guide.  Children must be able to walk unassisted and the camp management, guide or ranger accompanying the walking safari have the right to stop a child from participating if they feel it is in the best interests of the safety of the individual or group. Walking safari will take about 2-3 hours you should see and learn much about many animals, including all the great favorites – lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra – and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. Great variety of bird species. Wonderful scenery, with varied topography: wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with long views to far-off mountains. Meal: Picnic lunch box will be provided by your driver guide at the picnic site. Drive to your camp outside the park for evening at leisure and hot dinner Dinner and Overnight at Sable Mountain Lodge.

Day 3

Nyerere - Mikumi National Park

Breakfast at the camp, Pick up: After breakfasting our driver guide will pick you from your camp and drive you to Mikumi National Park. Activity: Today, we leave wonderful Selous game reserve towards Mikumi National park. During our journey to Mikumi, you can enjoy the sheer scale of Tanzania’s territory; the raw beauty of the landscapes reveals themselves and your driver-guide will help you to spot any animals and birds on the way and answer any questions about what you see. Meal: Inside national park Early evening drive to your camp for evening at leisure and hot dinner Dinner and Overnight at Mikumi Wildlife camp inside national park

Day 4

Full Day Game Drive

Breakfast at the camp, Pick up: After breakfasting our driver guide will pick you from your camp and drive you for a morning game drive in Mikumi. Activity: In the morning after breakfast, leave for the full game drive with a packed lunch. Animals commonly found here include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and elephant. Wild dog can be seen in packs here. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the popular centerpiece of Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Meal: Picnic lunch box will be provided by your driver guide at the picnic site Afternoon drive to campsite inside National Park for evening at leisure and hot dinner at Mikumi Wildlife lodge

Day 5

Departure Day

Breakfast at the camp, Pick up: After breakfast, our driver guide will pick you from your camp/lodge and drive you to dar es salaam. Activity: Transfer from Mikumi national park to dar es salaam. Enjoy morning safari with our drive guide, this tour gives you the chance to see the beautiful Tanzania landscape, mountains, village and small town.

When and where does the tour end?

Your tour Ends in Dar Es Salaam city or DAR Airport. We highly recommend booking accommodation to give yourself time to ease any logistics one day before safari!

When and where does the tour start?

Day 1 of this tour is an arrival day, and it will involve a pick up at DAR airport  and drop off to your hotel.

Do you arrange airport transfers?

We definitely have airport pick up and drop up services available for our clients who have booked our full packages tour. We are also pleased to inform you that we don’t charge for the pick up and drop off services. Actually it’s free of cost. But for this you need to provide the arrival time and date.

Is tipping included in the tour cost? If not how much should it be for the trip?

Tipping is not included in any of our packages and it is left the discretion of the travellers. Though not compulsory, tipping is expected by one and all involved in the service industry. We would recommend carrying small change in your pocket. Tips to Guides or other services rendered (Highly recommended)

What is the age travel limit for children?

We accept children of all ages to travel on safari and believe it is a wonderful experience for families to travel together. For children to make the most out of their travels, we suggest looking into one of our special family itineraries. We have car seats available for very young children. Please bear in mind, some of the accommodation have minimum age restrictions, so please inform us of the age of your child/children.

When is the best time to travel for this tour?

This tour is great for any time of year, however the best time for game viewing in the parks is during the dry season from June to February when wildlife converges on the dwindling water reserves notably the river, lakes and waterholes.
