Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Flight to Serengeti National Park

This morning, your driver will transfer you from your hotel in Arusha to the airport for flight to Serengeti. On arrival at Seronera airstrip you will meet your guide and enjoy a scenic drive through the rolling plains of the Serengeti. On arrival in camp, settle into life at Namiri Plains and watch the wildlife passing by from the stylish main area in camp. In the afternoon, begin your exploration of this exclusive corner of the famous National Park on an afternoon game drive, stopping for sundowners on top of the magical Soit Le Motonyi rock. With the nearest camp over 45 minutes away, you may be excused for thinking you are the only guests in the Serengeti!

Day 2-3

The Serengeti Plains

Your next few days enjoy morning and afternoon game drives or walking safaris from Namiri Plains, accompanied by expert guides who know the grassy plains, kopjes and acacia woodland like the back of their hands. Search for some of the resident cats but donā€™t forget the other species too, from giraffe and hippo to wildebeest and buffalo, as well as plentiful birdlife. You will return to camp during the heat of the day to relax by the pool or have a massage to revive you for the afternoonā€™s activities. In the evenings, enjoy a delicious three-course meal and listen to the sounds of the night as they unfold around you.

Day 4

Flight to Northern Serengeti

After breakfast, itā€™s goodbye to Namiri Plains as you depart to Seronera airstrip for your flight to Kogatende airstrip in the Northern Serengeti. On arrival, you will be met by a guide from Sayari and begin a game drive en-route to camp. Once in camp lunch will be served and in the afternoon, you have the option of relaxing in camp or heading out for a game drive in an open safari vehicle. Arriving back in camp, there is a chance to freshen up before enjoying your first Sayari dinner experience followed by the opportunity to enjoy a drink around a traditional safari campfire.

Day 5-6

Land of the Great Migration

Depending on your preference, there are a couple of options with regards to how your day is structured. One option is to break camp early and head out with a picnic breakfast on a morning game drive, returning to camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon you can do another game drive or opt to relax by the pool with a good book. Alternatively, you can eat breakfast in camp and head out on your game drive with a picnic lunch, returning in the mid-afternoon. Game drives are enjoyed on a shared basis with other guests from camp, however, rest assured that the camp will do everything it can to ensure that your ideal structure is met. Private vehicle hire is an optional extra which further increases the flexibility afforded to you but needs to be booked in advance.

Day 7

Off to Ruaha

Today you will fly south to the extraordinary, contrasting beauty of Ruaha National Park. On arrival at Msembe airstrip you will be met by a guide before having your first experience of this great park by driving to Jabali Ridge. Once at camp you will have the opportunity to settle into your suite and drink in your new view overlooking a baobab valley. After lunch your afternoon is your own and you can decide to relax by the pool and arrange a massage or perhaps head out on an afternoon game drive.

Day 8-9

Experience Ruaha

Over the next few days, you have varying choices on how to spend your day, which the managers and guides will talk you through each evening. Walking safaris are a great way to start the day, getting out early and exploring the environment on equal footing as the wildlife. There are morning game drives with picnic breakfasts, or delicious breakfasts to be enjoyed in camp. Full-day game drives with picnic lunches, or a relaxed lunch in camp with an afternoon game drive. Or spend the day in camp, enjoying the pleasures of the spa and unwinding in the swimming pool before venturing out on a night game drive.

Day 10

Goodbye Tanzania!

Enjoy your final breakfast before waving goodbye to Jabali and heading back to Msembe for your flight to Dar es Salaam. You will land at the international airport so you can simply collect your luggage and check-in for your international flight home.

Have a question in mind

Looking for more info? Send a question to the tour agent to find out more.

When and where does the tour end?

Your tour Ends in Dar es Salaam Airport.

When and where does the tour start?

Day 1 of this tour is an arrival day, and it will involve a pick up from your hotel in Arusha for flight to Serengeti's Seronera airstrip. You will have been met by our rep the day prior for a tour brief.

Do you arrange airport transfers?

We definitely have airport pick up and drop up services available for our clients who have booked our full packages tour. We are also pleased to inform you that we donā€™t charge for the pick up and drop off services. Actually itā€™s free of cost. But for this you need to provide the arrival time and date.

What is there to do on safari?

The camps in this tour are ideally situated for access to the incredible wildlife of Tanzania, as well as the beauty and serenity of the landscapes. Our safari holidays offer unparalleled and unforgettable wildlife experiences, from theĀ Great Migration,Ā Big 5, birding and more. In addition to daily game drives, Tanzania boasts many activities, includingĀ climbing Kilimanjaro, hot-air ballooning, walking safaris, meaningfulĀ cultural experiencesĀ and relaxing on the beach amongst others.

How does the weather influence a safari?

While a safari holiday can be had at any time of year, it is worth noting that seasonality will impact the type of experience youā€™re likely to have as well as the cost of your safari. During the dry season, the wildlife tends to congregate around the few remaining watering holes. Vegetation at this time is sparse making the animals easier to spot. The wet season is abundant both in vegetation and wildlife, as this is the birthing season ā€“ which means predators come out in force to prey on vulnerable newborns. Whichever season you choose to travel in, rest assured that the chosen camps are well equipped for the East African climate and to ensure your comfort at all times.

Can I combine my safari with a trip to Zanzibar?

Definitely -Ā ZanzibarĀ is a great addition to any safari itinerary or even just as an idyllic escape on its own!

What is the Great Wildebeest Migration?

TheĀ Great Wildebeest MigrationĀ is the largest animal migration in the world. Every year, more than 2 million animals (wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle) migrate in a clockwise direction across the ecosystems of theĀ SerengetiĀ (Tanzania) and theĀ Masai MaraĀ (Kenya). On the way, they have to cross crocodile-infested rivers, are hunted by predators, and face natural disasters such as droughts and flooding in a daily struggle for survival. This tour will offer you a front-row seat to all the migration action.Ā  Sayari Camp is located close to many of the Mara River crossing points in the Northern Serengeti and offer additional amenities such as a swimming pool.
