Mid Range Tour
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, home to the ‘The Roof of Africa’, Mount Kilimanjaro and after clearing immigration and collecting your luggage, you’ll be met by your driver who will be waiting for you at arrivals. You will drive to your accommodation in Arusha, and on a clear day you may have views of Kilimanjaro en-route. After a long day travelling you may want to rest, but if you want to keep yourself busy until the evening we can arrange a city tour or other experiences dependent on your interests. Meals at request. Overnight: Gran Melia Arusha
Your private guide and vehicle will pick you up after an early breakfast, and you’ll head off to Lake Manyara National Park, stopping en route to explore a local village on foot or in a tuk-tuk (a small, open air taxi). Lake Manyara is a small park but one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located wildlife areas, home to a clear blue shallow soda lake dotted with flamingos and hippo and lying below the dramatic hills of the Great Rift Valley escarpment. It’s an excellent birding destination and the only place in Tanzania that you may see tree-climbing lion. After a game drive and a picnic lunch, you’ll drive up the Rift Valley escarpment to the town of Karatu, the gateway to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Dinner and overnight at Acacia Farm Lodge.
A game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater starts early. You’ll be at the park gates when they open at 6.00am, and your day starts with views over the largest intact volcanic caldera in the world. At 259 square kilometres (160 square miles), the sheer size of the crater makes it difficult to comprehend the height of the towering walls, but the wind and clouds up here give you a hint. The rim of the crater sits around 610 metres (2,001 feet) above the crater floor, and you’ll begin your descent to a naturally contained ecosystem home to zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, lion, hyena, jackal and even critically endangered black rhino. You can spend up to six hours in the crater before heading back to your lodge. Dinner and overnight Acacia Farm Lodge.
Fly from Lake Manyara airstrip to Serengeti. On arrival at the airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your lodge, enjoying a game drive en-route. The central reaches is home to good populations of resident game. Big cats love to have a good vantage point and the kopjes around provide that. The Serengeti is home to a variety of landscapes, and what’s around you will depend on where you’re staying in the park. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Acacia- Bliss.
The highlight of your impressive African trip will undoubtedly be the game drives in Serengeti National Park that are offered in the morning and afternoon or on a full day. Your guide will ask about your wish list first: almost everything you might want to see can be found within your hours spent amid the diversity of the Serengeti ecosystem. One of the most impressive events is the crossing of the Mara River seen during the Great Wildebeest Migration in July through October. Immense herds of wildebeests and zebras gather along the banks of the river, stamping nervously as the creatures recognize the dangers that lie between them and prime grazing grounds. Dinner and overnight: Serengeti Acacia- Bliss
After a last morning game drive, you depart for Zanzibar International Airport and transfer by road to the northern part of the island arriving at The Z Hotel where you will enjoy a 4 night stay. Excursions such as the spice and city tour, snorkeling & diving, sunset cruises and more are available at an additional cost.
Today, transfer to Zanzibar Airport for onward arrangements.
