Tarangire is renowned for its elephant families, expansive savannah, striking baobab trees, seasonal swamps, and the vital Tarangire River. The river attracts a variety of animals, including giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests. Additionally, the park is home to buffalos, zebras, and wildebeests, all of which are closely followed by predators like lions and leopards. Throughout the game drive, you’ll have the opportunity to observe the wildlife and absorb the picturesque landscape from the vehicle’s open roof. A delightful picnic lunch with delicious food, coffee, and soft drinks will be provided in the park. Following lunch and an extensive game drive, we will make our way to Manyara Secret Lodge, or Acacia Farm or Manyara Safari Lodge where you will enjoy a comfortable dinner and spend the night. Is possible to have a night game on this day.
Early in the morning you drive from the lodge to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The road leads you over the Great Rift Valley, through the crater forest, to the striking Ngorongoro Crater. This collapsed volcano is the main feature of the area and creates a unique ecosystem with a wide variety of vegetation. Enjoy the beautiful colors of the landscapes and the diversity of animals. The crater is home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa and is choked with elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos and even the rare black rhino. This is one of the best places to spot all of the Big Five. The views from the crater rim over the crater floor are incredible. Because of its natural beauty the Ngorongoro Crater is chosen as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders. There are a range of activities to do in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, like visiting a Maasai village. After the game drive will drive to Serengeti national park.
Today you continue your safari in the Serengeti national park. Its stunning landscape can be seen in some of the most impressive nature documentaries. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife are unsurpassed. The annual wildebeest migration with more than a million wildebeest is probably the highlight of the Serengeti. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Together with your private guide you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Apart from the migratory animals you will also get to see lots of other animals, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. Expect to be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park. If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you to go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife.
After breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Wagakuria area. Resident wildlife numbers are exceptionally high in this area of the park, with prides of lion up to 30 strong, however, from Mid-July to October the area turns into a wildlife paradise. The key feature is the Mara River and it is not uncommon to see the herds cross the Mara River north on one day and then back south a few days later. Please take note –Finding a crossing is very difficult and is sometimes a matter of luck. A herd can be seen next to the river and only decide to cross or not cross until a couple of days later. This area is a stunning region with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve
Journey: Northern to Central Serengeti After breakfast depart 07:30 depart towards the most famous National park in the World, the Central Serengeti. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in local language, "endless plains". The park has 6,900 sq. miles (18,000 sq. km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon, defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes. As for Big Cats and large predators, it's the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous river crossings having been filmed in this park. Return to the Lodge with dinner. Packed lunch can be served at the picnic site or somewhere in the bush. This is a full day game drive in Serengeti where you will return back to your lodge before or during sunset for dinner
On this day we suggest a very early wake up in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you'll ever witness. After the game drive, we'll proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th wonder of the Natural World. The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft high walls, making it virtually a Noah's ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It's one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black Rhino. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It's also famous for its elephants which are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World.
Today, your journey takes you to Lake Eyasi, starting right after breakfast. This day holds an authentic encounter with the Hadzabe and Datoga community, known for their distinct cultural practices. You’ll start with visiting the Datoga people, famous for their craftsmanship, then followed with a visit to the Hadzabe community. The Hadza’s traditional lifestyle involves hunting small game like dik-diks and hare and gathering honey. Later in the evening, you’ll have the unique opportunity to join them in hunting activities, as they are skilled hunters and gatherers. Their dwellings are simple and easily constructed or abandoned. Communicating in a click language, the Hadzabe offers an immersive cultural experience. Lake Eyasi is home to the Hadzabe bushmen, one of the few places remaining in Africa where tribal life is still maintained relatively untouched. A visit to the Hadzabe lands offers a unique and unforgettable glimpse into an ancient culture. Observing an early morning hunting display, gathering honey, and traditional dance performances are all part of the experience. The Hadzabe live in caves and they don't wear any kind of clothes but rather skin to cover the private parts. A visit to their community is something you will most likely not want to miss, perhaps you will even have the possibility to see how they shower and lotion with monkey bone marrow. After engaging with the community, you’ll head back to Arusha city, staying overnight in Arusha city ready for the next day' departure from Kilimanjaro international airport to your home.
