The only camp in Africa run entirely by women. Set within the Central Serengeti, Dunia Camp is a magnificent spot for wildlife spotting. Dunia has eight spacious canvas tents that overlook the great and golden plains. Enjoy some time in the open-sided main tent where you may even get the chance to spot lions as they scan the plains for their prey. Relax in one of the leather armchairs and scan the horizon for movement, sip on a sweet cocktail before heading into the dining tent for a luxurious meal. All the food is prepared by the on-site chefs using produce from the local communities. You can enjoy a delicious cooked breakfast out on the deck that overlooks the Serengeti, and with every meal, you will have the option to take it out for a safari picnic.
The main mess tent is home to the aesthetically designed lounge, with large open sides to look out over the plains from every angle, wooden floors and natural styled chairs and sofas that are brilliant spots to relax after a long day out in the bush. Grab a book off the bookshelf and learn about the wonders you have witnessed in the day. Just a short walk from the main tent is a large campfire where you will enjoy a nice cold drink as you discuss your adventures with fellow travellers. Enjoy a meal outside as breakfast, lunch and dinner can be served outside or in the dining tent. The dining tent has a covered roof but is set upon a deck where you will see wildlife whilst you enjoy the many tastes of Africa that are provided by the chefs. Another unique element to Dunia is that the tented campsite’s staff is entirely made up of women and is the only camp like this in Africa.
Each of the eight glorious canvas tents has a private deck with a built-in sofa so you can either wake up and enjoy your morning coffee or settle down in the evening with a glass of wine and look out over the golden plains. The spacious bedroom is designed for practicality and luxury, with a four-poster double bed for you to rest your head, readying you for the next day’s adventure. The simplistic design was created so as not to pull away from the beauty of the landscape. Every tent has its private bathroom with double sinks and a hot shower, designed with natural wood fixtures for optimal luxury.
