Travel Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Serengeti National Park

This morning, you’ll fly from Zanzibar Airport to Serengeti National Park. This usually direct flight takes about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival at Seronera Airstrip, our guide will meet you and transfer you to Namiri Plains, where you’ll enjoy your first game drive en route. Namiri Plains is beautifully situated along the Ngare Nanyuki River in the eastern Serengeti. Here, vast grassland plains stretch out, occasionally dotted with acacia trees. The hard calcrete layer beneath the surface prevents many trees and shrubs from taking root, creating an open landscape ideal for wildlife viewing. As one of the few locations in eastern Serengeti with permanent underground water sources, game viewing in Namiri Plains is exceptional. The seasonal riverbed attracts various plains game, such as zebras and reedbuck, providing excellent opportunities for sightings. Predators are well aware of this and often lurk nearby, so keep an eye out for lions ready to ambush their next meal. Moreover, the short grass in this region is favored by cheetahs, making it easier for them to chase down prey. Spotting cheetahs here is particularly rewarding, as this area was closed for around 20 years to help their population recover. Now, it has become a haven for these majestic big cats, alongside lions and a few leopards. Dinner and overnight: Namiri Plains. Enjoy a relaxing evening surrounded by the sounds of the Serengeti!

Day 2-4

Exploring Namiri Plains

During your stay at Namiri Plains, you’ll discover the enchanting grasslands that were closed for 20 years to help restore the cheetah population. As one of the few camps in the area—located over an hour’s drive from the nearest competitor—you can enjoy these vast plains in relative solitude. While you're here, take advantage of the excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Spend your days spotting lions and other big cats, and marvel at the massive herds of wildebeest roaming the landscape. After exhilarating game drives, unwind around the pool or indulge in a soothing massage at our spa. If you're looking for a quieter afternoon, explore the library and information center, or simply relax on your private deck, soaking in the breathtaking views. One highlight of your stay may include an encounter with Manja, the famous melanistic serval. This striking wildcat has gained celebrity status, featuring on platforms like BBC Earth and The Discovery Channel. Spotting Manja is a unique experience, as he embodies the beauty and diversity of the Serengeti’s wildlife. Whether you're out in the bush or enjoying the luxurious amenities at Namiri Plains, each moment promises to be unforgettable. Make the most of this extraordinary opportunity to connect with nature and witness the wonders of the Serengeti!

Day 5

Departure from Namiri Plains

After enjoying a sumptuous breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to Namiri Plains. As you embark on your journey to the airstrip, savor one last game drive en route, keeping an eye out for any final wildlife sightings in the stunning Serengeti landscape. This scenic drive allows you to soak in the beauty of the grasslands and perhaps spot some of the incredible animals you’ve encountered during your stay. Once you arrive at the airstrip, you’ll board your flight back to Zanzibar, where your next adventure awaits. Meals Included: Breakfast Enjoy the memories of your thrilling safari experience as you transition to the idyllic beaches of Zanzibar!
