The crater’s unique ecosystem supports elephants, buffalos, wildebeest, zebras, hippos, flamingos, and large prides of lions. With some luck, you may spot the elusive black rhino, one of the rarest animals in East Africa.

Pause midday for a picnic lunch at a scenic site near the hippo pools, enjoying the extraordinary views of the crater walls rising around you. Continue exploring until early afternoon, soaking in the incredible wildlife encounters and landscapes.

Later, ascend from the crater and begin your drive back to Arusha. Depending on your onward travel plans, your guide will either transfer you to your Arusha hotel for overnight (optional) or to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight.
