Day 1

Arrival Day

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by your transfer driver. They will drive you to Olpopongi in the West Kilimanjaro region, which is situated 74 kilometers from the airport. As you journey, keep your eyes peeled for wildlife such as zebras and elephants. On clear days, you’ll also be treated to stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Upon reaching Olpopongi Maasai Village, the Village Chief will welcome you with refreshing drinks. You’ll have the opportunity to meet members of the vibrant Maasai tribe, renowned for their rich culture and traditions. For the night, you’ll stay in a traditional boma (village), where you can enjoy breathtaking vistas of the expansive Maasai plains. This experience promises to immerse you in the heart of Maasai culture.

Day 2

Olpopongi Masai Village

After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will embark on a walking safari, where your guide will share insights into the past and contemporary life of the Tanzanian Maasai. As you stroll through the village, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Maasai culture while sampling traditional tea (chai) prepared over a wood fire. Following your morning activities, you’ll savor a delicious lunch featuring a variety of local dishes. Later, gather around the fire to dine on roasted goat or choose another delightful dish that suits your taste. In the evening, once you settle into your comfortable cabin, take a moment to reflect on the enriching experiences of the day. Journey to Tarangire National Park

After a delightful breakfast, your journey to Tarangire National Park begins. You’ll meet your driver and guide, who will be your host throughout your adventure in Tanzania. As you drive southwest through the picturesque rural landscapes, you’ll soak in the beauty of everyday life in Tanzania until you reach the park gate. Once inside, the excitement ramps up as you embark on a thrilling game drive all the way to your lodge. Keep your camera ready, as Tarangire is known for its diverse wildlife and stunning scenery. In the evening, you’ll arrive at Tarangire Ndovu Tented Lodge, where you can relax and unwind. Enjoy a delicious dinner and prepare for another unforgettable night in the heart of the African wilderness.

Day 4

Exploring Tarangire National Park

This morning, you’ll set out to explore the unique landscapes of Tarangire National Park, enjoying all the luxury and flexibility of your own private vehicle and guide. The park, situated between the meadows of the Masai Steppe to the southeast and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west, offers a stunning backdrop for your adventure. In the northern part of Tarangire lies the permanent Tarangire River, often referred to as the lifeline of the park, especially during the dry season when the surrounding areas become arid. As you navigate through this remarkable landscape, keep an eye out for the diverse wildlife that calls Tarangire home. After a morning of exploration, you’ll return to the lodge for a delicious lunch before continuing your journey to Lake Eyasi. Upon arrival, you’ll settle in at Kisima Ngeda, a cozy camp nestled in a fever tree forest and backed by a rocky hill. With eight palm-roofed, fully equipped tented chalets, you’ll enjoy expansive views of the Alipi escarpment and the seasonal salt-water Lake Eyasi. Here, you can unwind and immerse yourself in the tranquil surroundings.

Day 5

Cultural Encounters and Departure

The region surrounding Lake Eyasi has been home to the Hadza tribe for over 10,000 years. Early in the morning, you’ll hike down the trail for a truly special encounter. These hunter-gatherers have preserved their ancient way of life, leading a nomadic existence as they hunt for food daily. You’ll have the unique opportunity to join them on a hunt, using traditional bow and arrow. Their language, a click language similar to that of the Bushmen in South Africa, adds another layer of richness to the experience, and you can rely on your guide for translation. After your time with the Hadza, you may also visit the Datoga tribe. As you approach their village, known as a boma, the women will welcome you. Their community consists of small huts made of mud and straw, and they share a single husband, much like the Hadza. Your guide will share fascinating insights into their culture and practices, and their stories are sure to leave you in awe. After these enriching cultural experiences, you’ll drive back to Arusha, where your journey will come to an end. Take with you the memories of the incredible people and landscapes you’ve encountered in Tanzania.

When and where does the tour end?

Your tour Ends in Arusha Airport. We highly recommend booking accommodation to give yourself time to ease any logistics one day before safari!

When and where does the tour start?

Day 1 of this tour is an arrival day, and it will involve a drop off from your Kilimanjaro airport to your hotel in Arusha.

What about the local language? Do we need guide services everywhere?

We provide English speaking chauffeurs for individual tours. For group tours, English speaking tour escorts would accompany the groups. During sightseeing involving historically important places or monuments, we provide English speaking local guides who are well knowledged in history and culture. We could even provide guides who speak French, German and Japanese but only on advanced booking.

Is tipping included in the tour cost? If not how much should it be for the trip?

Tipping is not included in any of our packages and it is left the discretion of the travellers. Though not compulsory, tipping is expected by one and all involved in the service industry. We would recommend carrying small change in your pocket. Tips to Guides or other services rendered (Highly recommended)

Can I combine my safari with a trip to Zanzibar?
