After breakfast, transfer to Tarangire national park for a thrilling safari. The park lies between the meadows of Masai Steppe to the south east and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west. Within the northern part of Tarangire is the permanent River Tarangire also known as the life-line of the park particularly in the dry season when most of the region is totally dry. This flows northwards until it exits the park in the northwestern corner to pour into Lake Burungi. There are a number of wide swamps which dry into green plains during the dry season in the south. Dinner and overnight: Maramboi Tented Lodge
Today, transfer to Lake Manyara national park. Enjoy a game drive and find hippos, flamingos and several different bird species. Then it's an afternoon transfer to Kisima Ngeda near Lake Eyasi.
Nestled in a fever tree forest and backed by a rocky hill, Kisima Ngeda is a cozy camp that overlooks the salt-water seasonal Lake Eyasi. Eight palm-roofed, fully equipped tented chalets await guests who can lose themselves in the expansive views of the Alipi escarpment. The changing tones of the day provide a natural tonic for sundowners on tent decks and wholesome food is prepared and served up by local chefs in the palm-thatched communal bar, lounge and dining room. At day’s end, a Tanganyika boiler is fired up with palm fronds for your shower before you retire and fall asleep to a lullaby of Nightjars and the sounds of the forest. Kisima Ngeda lies in the ancestral lands of the Hazdabe hunter-gatherers and Datoga people, who graciously share their art, lifestyle, cuisine, and culture with visitors.Dinner and overnight: Kisima Ngeda Tented Camp
this early morning, go on a hunt with the Bushmen, with tuition in survival skills.
With an estimated population of fewer than 2,000 individuals, the Hadzabe are one of the last tribes to stay true to their tribal history. Existing far from the crowds and globalization that inevitably follow tourism, they exist much as they always have. The Hadzabe people live in caves near Lake Eyasi, and their isolation and shrinking numbers have allowed them to avoid the HIV epidemic and other diseases that have spread due to intertribal marriages. Men typically hunt and bring home honey to feed their families, while women and children gather fruits, berries, and roots with which to supplement their diet. The men are particularly adept hunters, and their daring and inventive hunting style is a sight to behold. Using parts harvested from other animals, they cunningly lure and put down game. They use locally made poisons and ingenious camouflage to hunt. As this is their only source of food, they are the only tribe permitted to hunt in the Serengeti. Tonight, dinner and overnight at Kitela LodgeThis morning, drive a short distance to Ngorongoro's entry gate for a safari in the dramatic Ngorongoro Crater. This is a place of rare wonders as its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site confers. Formed by a massive volcanic eruption, the world’s largest intact and un-flooded caldera provides a year-round home to an astonishing 25,000 large mammals including black rhino, wildebeest and zebra along with Africa’s densest concentrations of lion. The Crater's forests shelter elephant and buffalo, its wetlands are home to hippos and flamingos while hyena, wild dog, leopard and cheetah make up the full range of predators.
