8-Day Kenya Wildlife Safari – Focus on Animal Abundance

After breakfast back at camp, spend your late morning at leisure. Many lodges offer spa services, nature walks, or viewing decks where you can quietly observe animals near the waterholes.

In the afternoon, continue your exploration of the reserve with another game drive, focusing on different regions of the Mara to increase your chances of seeing new species. Your guide will help you track animals based on fresh prints, sounds, and seasonal behavior.

If you're interested in cultural experiences, this is also a great day to visit a nearby Maasai village (optional, small fee). After an early breakfast, you’ll bid farewell to the Masai Mara and begin your journey to Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive takes you through Kenya’s beautiful Rift Valley countryside, passing local farms, villages, and dramatic escarpments along the way. (Approx. 5–6 hours by road; optional flight available at additional cost.)

Arrive in Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at your lodge. After settling in, head out for an afternoon game drive in the park. Lake Nakuru is a UNESCO-recognized bird sanctuary, famed for its flamingos, pelicans, and over 400 bird species. The park is also one of the best places in Kenya to see both white and black rhinos, as well as Rothschild giraffes, lions, leopards, and buffalo.

Drive along the lake’s edge, through acacia woodlands and open grasslands, offering a totally different ecosystem compared to the Mara.

Return to your lodge in the early evening for dinner and a relaxed night with views over the lake or forest.

After breakfast, check out and begin your journey to Amboseli National Park, located in southern Kenya near the Tanzanian border. Known for its dramatic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and large elephant herds, Amboseli offers a striking contrast in landscape from the lush hills of Lake Nakuru.

The drive is long (approx. 7–8 hours) but scenic, passing through varied terrain, rural towns, and open savannahs. Alternatively, a flight transfer can be arranged (at extra cost) to reduce travel time and offer aerial views of the Great Rift Valley and Mount Kilimanjaro.

Arrive in Amboseli in time for a late lunch or afternoon tea at your lodge. After a short rest, head out on an afternoon game drive across the open plains and seasonal marshes. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, zebras, wildebeests, cheetahs, hyenas, and a variety of birds, especially waterfowl.

With the sun setting behind Africa’s tallest mountain, this is one of the most photogenic locations in all of East Africa. Return to your lodge for dinner and a peaceful night in the shadow of Kilimanjaro.

Start your day early with a final morning game drive in Amboseli National Park. Enjoy the fresh morning air and stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro as you watch elephants and other wildlife in their natural habitat one last time.

Return to your lodge for breakfast, then check out and begin your transfer back to Nairobi. Depending on your schedule, you can travel by road (approximately 4–5 hours) or take a short domestic flight to Wilson Airport.

Upon arrival in Nairobi, a Paul Tours Safari representative will assist you with your transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight or to your hotel if you are extending your stay.
